Nowadays, after undergoing extensive refurbishment, it is now the site of the Antioquia University’s Language Center and the Confucius Center for learning Mandarin. Additionally, it also houses different extension projects from the University.
The Old Law Faculty Building exudes neoclassic architecture in its design, and was created by the Belgium architect Agustín Goovaerts in 1925.
Take a trip around the classrooms and admire their stunning architecture as you interact with a building that was, back in its heyday, transcendental for the city of Medellín, and helped the city celebrate the 250th anniversary of Villa de la Candelaria.
Up until the 1960’s, the Law Faculty used this building as its main site. Once the university campus was built, the Faculty moved there.
History oozes out of every corner of this building as it has been the place where important political and public figures have either studied or taught. Additionally, it is considered a haven for knowledge which has made the city of Medellín grow and stand out historically. Even nowadays, its foundations will not be lost as it still continues to promote wisdom, knowledge, and cultural interaction between regions.
