Altavista

The town where the history of the Aburrá Valley started to take shape

Cobble-stone paths that were created hundreds of years ago by local indigenous tribes are now the main point of interest of this small town.

Altavista

This small town is located in the southwestern quarter of Medellín.

Walk along the cobble-stone paths on Altavista, which carry a history of tradition and culture in each and every stone. These paths lead visitors to the mountain tops, where the breathtaking scenery of velvety-green fields and clear blue skies highlight the sharp colors of the diverse crops that litter the fields.

Historians state that the cobble-stone paths were created by the Nutibara indigenous tribe and were used by the Spaniards during the colonization.

Step back in time and enjoy a fascinating adventure as you travel along these paths on horseback and learn about the town and its traditions. These intricate paths weave through places of natural beauty such as the Perla Waterfall, which at its base has a clear water pool idea for paddling and spending time with family.

You can also visit the El Barcino Hill, where visitors can gaze down upon the amazing view of Medellín and breathe in fresh air and country spirit.

In this peaceful town, there is also room for music and dancing which take over the quietness of the town during the Patron Saint Festival, the Traditional Farmer’s Fair, and the Kite Fair where the town and parks are decorated with bright colors and visitors are made to feel at home by the locals.
