Medellín has a privileged climate, and it is really common to hear national and international travelers express that it is one of the most pleasant climates in the country, this is because it is characterized by neither being very hot nor very cold, with a temperature average between 16 ° C and 26 ° C.
Our recommendation is to come prepared for the unpredictability of a humid subtropical climate characterized by a temperate environment with frequent rains throughout the year, so bringing a waterproof jacket and a pair of boots would not be bad, and of course light and fresh clothing for sunny days, which are almost all.
It is said that the best time to visit the city is from mid-December to the beginning of March, the time of more summer; but in general, the climate is so pleasant that doing so will always be a good idea. For those who are more lovers of cool temperatures, the period between the beginning of October and mid-January is ideal.
Something very atypical of Medellín and in general of Colombia is that in the same region and a few kilometers away, it is possible to easily change the thermal floor, which makes it an exceptional destination that even through its multiple climates, expresses its immense diversity.
Our visitors, for example, love to go to the coffee zone of our region, especially to the municipalities of Jardín and Jericó, both Colombian heritage towns and no more than three hours from the city, the first is a town with a temperate climate very similar to the from Medellín, the second is much colder.
Guatapé for its part (which is another destination quite popularized by the impressive views that can be seen from the Piedra del Peñón) also has a slightly colder climate than that of Medellín, especially at night, when temperatures can drop to about 14 ° C. By day, instead, the days are usually sunny (around 23 ° C) perfect to appreciate the dam and the spectacular landscape that its small islets create.
To visit Guatapé we recommend making sure not to do it in rainy seasons, generally more frequent in the months of April and May, and September and October. Likewise, the best time to visit Guatapé is from mid-December to early March.
