The perfect weather to spend time outdoors and the beautiful mountains that surround us make the rooftop experience in Medellín a must. You can find rooftops in different areas of the city: downtown, Laureles, Provenza, Perpetuo Socorro, Manila, and even in Manrique, Calasanz, and the comuna 13. They have been so successful that new options to enjoy emerge every month.

Medellín’s nightlife is not only about parties. If you’re one of those who enjoy quieter options or want to take a break from partying to survive the rhythm of the city, we’ve got plans for you in theaters, art galleries, museums, cultural centers, or festivals where you can enjoy activities such as concerts, plays, exhibitions, video mapping, cinema, bowling, karaoke, Spanish conversation clubs, or historical night tours. Night falls and Medellín dresses up to party! Salsa, vallenato, reggaeton, electronic music, ranchera, and rock are the most common options you can find in Medellín to dance or have some beers at local breweries or a few cocktails outdoors. El Poblado is the area with the most bars and nightclubs in Medellín, followed by the downtown and Laureles.
Tips for Visitors:
Get ready to experience the magic of Medellín at night! When night falls, the city is transformed, and if you want to have an out-of-the-ordinary experience, look for one of the night tours—a wonderful mix of culture, heritage, and partying. Some tours are on foot, others in non-conventional electric vehicles, and others in buses or in our traditional chiva buses. Choose the one that best suits your needs.
Whether it’s Parque de las Luces, the EPM Smart Building, Parques del Río, the iconic places of Medellín’s downtown, or the vibrant nightlife district, full of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, Medellín’s nightlife has something special for everyone. So go with the flow, learn, and feel the energy that this city has in store for you when the sun goes down!

Hop on a traditional Antioquia chiva and join the party! These colorful jewels are much more than just vehicles; they’re the soul of Antioquia culture. In the past, and still in some towns, they transported fresh produce from the countryside to the municipal seats. They carried fruits, plantains, cassava, coffee, and even chickens and pigs.
Over time, these buses became an icon of the region for their important role in its history and the artistry of their outer shell. As a way of highlighting this particular vehicle, the chiva rumbera was born: The chiva bus is transformed into a rolling party venue where you can dance and sing loudly as you move through the streets of Medellín.
Tips for Visitors:
There are some tours to nearby municipalities that include traditional chiva rides. This is also a beautiful way to see the scenery and learn a little of our history and traditions.
Explore Medellín from new heights! During the day, you’re invited to climb to the viewpoints of Medellín’s tutelary hills. From there, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the city and Valle de Aburrá, and you can go on nature trails and engage in community-based tourism. For an evening experience, the viewpoints along with food and beverage options are ideal. Like rooftops, viewpoints offer a beautiful view of our valley’s mountains, except that they are nestled on hills. And don’t think we’re short on mountains! Cocktails, live music, hikes, board games, hot chocolate, aguapanela with cheese, the viewpoints have a variety of activities you can’t miss. Day or night, these viewpoints offer unique perspectives of Medellín.
