What will you find this Christmas in Medellín?

In Medellín, Christmas isn’t just lit up: it’s felt, walked, and lived on every corner and in every gentle smile of its people. When December arrives, the city blossoms with light, music, and tradition, and in 2025, it does so by celebrating what represents us most: the stories of our people and our city.

This year’s theme is a tribute to Medellín for its 350 years and the 70 years of EPM, the company responsible for lighting up and filling the city with magic every Christmas. This 2025, at the Festival de Navidad Medellín Te Quiere, you can enjoy the lights with a tour of traditional crafts, neighborhoods that preserve memories, rural landscapes, and the creativity that characterizes those who have made this city a place where magic truly happens. Each figure is a chapter of who we are; each corridor of light is an invitation to let yourself be carried away by the emotion of the moment and our history.

A December filled with music, art, and tradition

The Christmas season in Medellín has always been synonymous with gathering, and this year is no exception. At the Parque Cultural Navideño, the nights are transformed into a stage where musical genres mix just like our city does: trova, salsa, cumbia, popular music, vallenato, and even themed nights celebrating Medellín’s 350th anniversary, Botero’s work, and the richness of our traditional rhythms.

Throughout December, the squares and parks are filled with local groups, Christmas music, orchestras, and artistic collectives that bring sound to Christmas in Medellín.

Christmas also moves through the neighborhoods

One of the most beloved experiences of this season are the  Caravanas Navideñas, tours that bring music, parades, and traveling characters to different neighborhoods in Medellín. Robledo, Laureles, Belén, Aranjuez, Boston, El Poblado, Santa Cruz, Doce de Octubre, and many more welcome these caravans that light up the night and bring the Christmas spirit to each community.

Added to this are the Cultura Parque Iluminados stages, where different townships and traditional parks in Medellín become meeting points with artistic offerings, gastronomy, and lights created by local hands. Ideal for discovering Christmas from the authenticity of each area.

Places to meet and celebrate

El Pueblito Paisa and Ciudad del Río will be two of the main attractions at this year’s Plazas de Navidad, spaces designed for families to share, learn about crafts, enjoy culinary offerings, and stroll among lights in safe, lively environments.

In addition, at Parques del Río, the Corredor Navideño invites you to walk among parades, chirimías, traveling artists, and traditional Christmas lights that accompany the Medellín River, one of the most iconic spots of the season.

And if urban art and local culture are your thing, the Calle de Artistas in Plaza Botero, Junín, and Parque Lleras offer encounters with artists and characters who are part of our city’s identity.

A classic you can’t miss

Christmas in Medellín wouldn’t be complete without one of its most iconic events: the Desfile de Mitos y Leyendas. On December 8, the city fills with dance troupes, fantastical creatures, traditional stories, and grand performances that wind through the streets of downtown, filling spectatorshearts with magic and tradition. It is a tribute to our oral tradition and an experience that connects generations

Come and experience Christmas in bloom

Medellín has always been a city that celebrates from the heart. At Christmas, that spirit is felt even more strongly: in the neighborhoods, in the parks, in the townships, in the traditional flavors, and in the warmth of the people who welcome you as if you were one of their own.

This year, we invite you to walk under the lights, follow the sound of the caravans, be amazed by the creativity of our artists, and let yourself be enveloped by the stories that give life to this city which, at 350 years old, continues to blossom with every light. And, of course, your Christmas visit to Medellín will only be complete if you fill yourself with joy with food for the soul such as buñuelos, natilla, hojuelas, manjar blanco, and all the traditional gastronomic delights of this season.
