Appreciate the life of insects and butterflies in a welcoming natural environment offered by Piedras Blancas Ecological Park. Are you ready to learn about insects and butterflies? Be sure to schedule a visit to Piedras Blancas Ecological Park. This majestic park is located in the township of Santa Elena, just 45 minutes from Medellín. It was opened to the public in January 2004 and since then has exhibited living organisms and a collection of preserved specimens.
The Entomological Museum is Colombia’s first living museum. It has around 22,000 insects from 25 orders, grouped into approximately 350 species brought from different regions of the country. There you can consult information about their ecology, as reference collections are available at all times.
At the Butterfly Garden, you can see hundreds of butterflies of different colors. Families can take pictures and enjoy a close-up experience with more than 20 different species of insects native to eastern Antioquia. An unmissable outing for those who enjoy biology!
Please arrive between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to best observe the butterfly process.
